Shortbread
1 cup (4oz) all-purpose flour
1oz superfine sugar
½ stick (4 tablespoons or 2oz) butter
you will also need
A baking sheet
Begin by preheating the oven to 325°F. Then put the flour and sugar into a large bowl, and the butter into a saucepan and heat the butter gently until it melts. When the butter has melted add it to the dry ingredients and mix well.
Next, making sure the mixture is cool, knead the mixture until it binds together, and then turn it onto an ungreased baking sheet. Shape and press the shortbread ‘dough’ into a round of about ½ inch in thickness, then mark into cone shapes and prick with a fork.
Bake the shortbread in the center of the oven for about 20 minutes.
